Joe joined the Sauer Land Surveying, Inc. (SLSI) staff in November 2000 as a CAD draftsman and quickly became an invaluable asset to the company’s CAD division. On December 30, 2009, he successfully passed the Fundamentals of Surveying (SIT) and the Principles of Surveying (PS) exams and obtained his license as a Professional Land Surveyor in the State of Indiana.

When SLSI’s original owner and president John C. Sauer officially retired on September 30, 2019, Joe and Wade Hacker (Chief Field Superintendent) purchased the company and became co-owners. Joe has more than 22 years of experience in surveying and a vast knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Carlson Survey, and other survey-related software applications. He has computed boundaries for thousands of properties in Northeast Indiana and Northwest Ohio. Joe has also worked on hundreds of residential plats and engineering plans for area subdivisions.
